Preview-ADAC Rallye Deutschland 2011

Rallye Deutschland will be the ninth round of the 13 round season. It takes place on the 18-21 August 2011.
Rally Germany will be the first Tarmac round of the season! and it remains to be seen if anyone can beat 7 time World Rally Champion Sebastien Loeb? After all he has won the rally EIGHT times

Last year Monsieur Loeb took the win ,team-mate Dani Sordo shadowed him in the early stages before being ordered to hold station for a one-two finish for the French make, which became a podium lockout when Sebastien Ogier grabbed third from Jari-Matti Latvala on the final day. A spate of punctures wrecked Petter Solberg’s challenge while gearbox failure forced Mikko Hirvonen’s premature exit.

Francois Duval, making a rare start in the WRC, had been expected to fight for a podium finish but was slowed on day one by a broken driveshaft before he suffered a huge crash on Saturday afternoon, which left his co-driver Denis Giraudet requiring hospital treatment after he fractured some ribs.

The rally is based in the historic city of Trier in western Germany.Friday’s action will take place in the vineyards of the Mosel region and consists of three stages, a service at  Trier’s Messepark then a repeat of the morning stages.  With hairpins peppering the route, drivers struggle to find a good rhythm, while overhanging vines dont make the job any easier on the drivers.
Saturday’s route begins with stages through the more fast and flowing woodland stages of the northern Saarland region before teams tackle the Arena Panzerplatte test through the Baumholder military training area.
The stage, which has been shortened from 48 kilometres to  34, is a mixture of wide asphalt areas and rugged concrete, which will cause lots of wear on the tyres particularly in the event of high temperatures.
The Baumholder roads are notoriously slippery. To add to the challenge, giant hinkelsteins - kerbstones used to keep army tanks on the road - line the course and will punish any mistakes.
Sunday’s route heads back to the vineyards of the Mosel region for four more stages before the exciting Circus Maximus Power Stage around Trier’s Porta Nigra, where the ceremonial start will take place on Thursday evening. It will be the last chance for the drivers to pick up extra championship points. We can expect to see a big fight here.
The rally use to include 405 competitive kilometres but this year that has been trimmed to 360km over 19 stages.

So who's going to win?
Sebastien Loeb has won the event eight times already but can he win it this year? with a new car?

If any of the other drivers want to challenge Sebastien for the drivers Championship this rally would be the right time to start picking up maximum points.

If anyone other than Loeb win this rally its fair to say most of us will be pretty suprised!
but hey the competition is brilliant this year, and putting the new cars on a tarmac rally and the result may be suprising, or we may have seen it all before.
